Rotork creates a safe working environment on board an FPSO off the coast of West Africa

Overview

Actuators supplied by Rotork provided a safe operating environment for crew members and control equipment on a FPSO (Floating Production Storage and Offloading) platform off the coast of Angola.

Challenge

Total’s Clov FPSO (named after the Cravo, Lírio, Orquídea and Violeta oil fields of which it serves) is based 140 km northwest of Luanda, Angola. It has a processing capacity of 160,000 barrels of oil per day.

Solution

The application demanded precise accuracy to maintain air quality and ventilation in the many enclosed cabins, offices, sub-stations and PLC rooms contained inside the massive vessel. The temperature has to be accurately controlled and the air supply has to be constant, so when actuators were needed on the HVAC air handling units and cooling water supply.

Result

Rotork engineers installed and commissioned CMA and CVA process control actuators to provide the essential HVAC functions required.
