Rotork supports Manchester Central Foodbank
As a consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic, foodbanks in the UK are experiencing an increase in demand and a decline in donations.
The Manchester Central Foodbank (which is part of the Trussell Trust network of foodbanks) is currently helping approximately 175 people a week, many are families with children. Overall, this is an increase in use of around 47%. Their stocks have been running very low as a consequence of this increase and the smaller number of donations at this time.
In response to this problem, Bifold's* charity committee and staff have donated £650 to buy food for the Manchester Central Foodbank. It is hoped that we can develop a long-term relationship with the charity and support those in need to ensure everyone has access to food when they need it.
Patsy of the Manchester Central Foodbank said: "We would like to say a huge thank you for the incredible donation made by Bifold/Rotork. Donations such as these are essential to the running of our operation, and our mission to provide food and support to vulnerable people around central Manchester.
In April, we were operating at a 227% increase in demand for our service, and fed around four times as many children as the same period last year. Without the generosity of donors such as yourselves, we would not be able to provide the vital resources to ensure that we remain operational, whilst also feeding more people than ever before. Thank you!"
