Nuclear Power Plants

For over five decades, Rotork has been a trusted supplier to the nuclear power plant sector, providing a wide range of certified actuation solutions designed to meet the rigorous demands of nuclear power plant applications. As global electricity demand continues to grow—driven by everything from electric vehicles to data centres—there is renewed interest in expanding nuclear capacity, extending the life of existing plants, and even reviving previously shut-down facilities.

Today, nuclear power plants generate approximately 10% of the world’s electricity, but as the world looks to decarbonise and secure reliable energy sources, the demand for nuclear energy is increasing. Thirty countries currently operate nuclear power plants, with over two dozen others exploring nuclear energy as part of their future energy mix. In 2025, advanced nuclear reactor designs will take a critical step forward as they transition from concept to construction, highlighting the sector’s continued evolution.

We have remained committed to supporting our installed base, ensuring the continued performance and reliability of our products in existing facilities. As the industry shifts towards innovative nuclear technologies, including Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) and micro-reactors, we are increasingly being approached to provide actuation solutions to support these advancements. Our products are well-suited to the unique challenges of these next-generation nuclear applications, reinforcing Rotork’s role in the sector’s future.

With decades of experience and a proven track record in nuclear power, Rotork remains ready to support the industry’s transition to a cleaner, more sustainable energy future.
